Fun and Games at the Murston HeArt Children’s Festival!
Last week, Unipet had the pleasure of being involved with the Murston HeArt Children’s Festival.
The event took place at Murston’s Old Church on August 7, and brought local children together to enjoy resourceful, eco-friendly games and activities.
At our stall, we placed images of birds around the area and encouraged children to search for them. Then, they identified the type of bird and learnt more about each breed. We gave away goodie bags, which included treats for the kids, and Mini Pellets and Pre-Filled Feeders for the birds.
One boy said he didn’t have a pet bird to feed, and we explained to him that he can feed garden birds. Now, equipped with Mini Pellets, we hope the children will begin feeding wild birds!
We were stationed next to Friends of Milton Creek Country Park, who have a new birdwatching area which we have been donating feed to. They helped children draw pictures, and create frames out of twigs, which was a hit.
Kent Wildlife Trust- who are currently running a Junior Wildlife Photography Competition which we are sponsoring- showed children how to make a pencil out of twigs. Swale In Bloom used some of our old Coco Feeders to make boats, with sails designed by the children.
We took some of our own kids along with us. They enjoyed getting creative, learning new things and spending time with other children. One said the event was “epic”!
The event had a great turnout, with lots of locals participating in the unique and diverse activities on offer. It provided families with some great game ideas which are perfect for the summer holidays.
We had a fantastic time, and we can’t wait for next year’s festival!
