Waking Up The Season With Wild About Gardens!

Yesterday (March 15) we attended the Wild About Gardens Wake Up The Season event at Brogdale Farm.

This event, hosted by our friends at the Kent Wildlife Trust, is a celebration of spring and the impact the move into this season has on our wildlife.

Attendees included KWT volunteers, as well as other local organisations and businesses.

We chatted to organisations about a variety of subjects, from birds to bees and everything in between! It was great to see the Kent Bat Group, who had some adorable bats on show and a lot of vital information about them!

We loved meeting this adorable bat!

This was a great opportunity for us to talk to regular bird feeders, who had read the recent news about the negative impact unclean feeders have on wild birds. We took copies of our recent blog, and showcased the SingingFriend feeders as a solution to this problem. Those we spoke to agreed that these feeders are easy to clean and well protected- a great step towards keeping feeders clean and safe.

Most importantly, the event marked the launch of the 2018 Wild About Gardens Awards. We were involved in the event last year and will be giving out an award once again for Best Garden For Wild Birds. If last year’s entries were anything to go by, we’re going to have another tough decision on our hands this year!

If you live in Kent and would like to enter your bird-friendly garden to the competition, find more information here. And if you’d like to create a more wildlife-friendly garden, check out our blog on the topic! Who knows- maybe you’ll be picking up the award!
